The clouds are actually a seperate geosphere slightly larger than the earth. Only the clouds show and everything else is transparent. Im trying to figure out how to apply this to FFXI models.

Trying to figure out how to control the skylight more. Still, even as bright as it is, I like the results.

Only one thing I notice about your pic that I didnt like was the light, its so bright.

I would recomend a omni light so it has the effect of the sun, that would be awsome and more of the planet would have shade.

bleh.. are you serious? i have 3ds max 6... but i cant figure out houw to even use it

noob. lol j/k

lol yeah.. at that program i am... seen similar images of people converting character files to that program, but i havent even gotten that far. hopefully i can figure this damn thing out sometime.. i'd like to make stuff like yarrs lol

I had to teach myself everything. I had a little help with Sky lighting. From there i learnt how to do partical effects, bump mapping, texturing, alpha channels, correct shadowing and other stuff.

so how do you even get the character files into 3ds max? i've tried converting a character in the model viewer... but 3ds wont allow it, and you cant have model viewer save it as anything else i think

Yeah its actuall a hidden meaning in the image. Some times i try to get artsy and crap. If I spun the camera around you would see another dragon.
