What stops scammers from placing fake bids to try to force interested sellers into a higher price?

Earnest money deposit, e.g. I had to produce a $1,000 check when we made an offer on our house

Well, it's been over a year now, but thanks. haha.

Oregon actually has a no-fault buyer system, where a buyer can actually back out basically at any given time, sighting any little reason. haha. But yah, I did have to supply an earnest money check.

I actually submitted an offer for my house the day I viewed it, beause I had been poking around for a few months before, and whenever I'd take a day, or two, to think about it, it'd always have already been sold, or at least in the process of it.

So because of that no fault buyer thing in Oregon, I was just all "Fuck it, I'll apply for all the houses". I actually got my bid accepted on two houses at the same time, but I definitely liked this one more, and it happened to go through the process a bit faster, so it worked out great.

Both were short sales, so it took quite some time between accepting and getting the keys.

funny how they're called short sales but those are the ones that take fucking forever (I know they're not called short for that reason)

Right lol I meant to say that it has been over a year but did not put it in my comment earlier XD well that's good if I ever come to the point of buying a house I would be nervous because my parents got fore closed on(my parents suddenly had to pay $1,000 more in payments) and got laid off their job just goes to show you that economy is still messed up.

Yeah lol I steered clear of those. I wasn't patient enough. My hat's off to you Rid, it definately pays off in the long run if you can deal with the process.

haha, this thread keeps popping up every now and then.

the TV is high, but it's not all that big of a deal, in all honesty. I 2 years in, and I haven't noticed any neck problems yet.

Gonna edit out that original picture with the minivan, though. :D

I don't have one with all the lights. Sadly, my great scheme of going blue and "cool white" didn't work out all that great, because I couldn't find any cool white lights in the stores. So it's a bone one-toned. I'll try to get a pick up later. It'd look a lot better with a bit more cool white lights strewn about.

I do like decorating, though. It's the girl in me! ;) That's why I want our FC housing so bad, so I can bug Ket into letting me play Sims in it, or at least in one room of it, or something!
