So I installed ff11 back on my computer. Its a different one that I had before, it has the new windows. I can't open playonline, is there something else I need to do to get it to open? I've tried all that I can think of, but I am sure there are many more. Thanks.

I had the same problem when I used my original disks to install. Then I bought it on Steam for 2.99 and downloaded everything fresh and it worked fine.

If you have Vista or Windows 7, the PlayOnline that comes installed with the original discs does not work. Instead, you have to download PlayOnline from the Square Enix website here:

Or direct link:

http://dl.square-enix.co.jp/polus/setup.exe

Install that version and then install FFXI as usual and it should update to the very latest version properly.

Ket is right when I reinstall the FFXI, I had win 7 as OS. I had to download from SE the part for Win 7 to get playonline to work.
